Mart Golden Bough
These days, I'm working part-time at a local grocery store to both earn some money and take care of my health. I'm starting to get tired of it and want to quit and read books again. As for the job I've been doing this morning, the employee benefits at the supermarket under a major corporation are pretty good and I like the work, but it seems like it's time for me to leave.
While working at the supermarket, there is a time when I move products that are close to their expiration date to the discount section with discount stickers. At that moment, I read the cycle of human life and living.
I call this time the “jing-chap” (the sound of stickers coming out of the discount sticker machine). Newly introduced products with relatively long durations replace the existing ones. When the time for the product is near, a sticker is placed indicating that it must be discounted by 50% from the original price. If it still doesn't sell, it is discarded and ends up in the trash. I wonder what kind of competitive society this is.
These products even look exactly the same!
If this is the Golden Bough, it makes me reflect once again on what life truly is.
